Tue. May 15/07 - Brockville Road Race

The conditions were perfect this year for The Brockville RR for Habitat and many of the Eastern Ontario teams showed up in large numbers. Team RACE had 2 in the M1 race Paul Skafel and Jamie Layfield and they were both a little surprised to find out at the start that the M1 race would be combined with the S1/2 race and increase to 115km's. The race started quickly with a large break getting away after about 25km's and the peloton chasing for the next 30 or so. As soon as it was caught a group of 5 countered and stayed clear to the finish with only a 20 second gap. Paul got caught up in a crash when the peloton was passing the M3/womens race and Jamie attacked on the last lap with 2 other racers only to get swept up with 500m to go. Rookie mistakes by both but a great race all in all and worth the drive to Brockville!
