Sun. May 6/07 - Springbank Race Report
Team RACE wins the Senior 1/2 and Master 1 races!
Team RACE entered full squads into both the Senior 1/2 and Master 1
races this past weekend at the Springbank Road Race in London, Ontario.
Racers enjoyed ideal weather conditions for the 39th edition of
Springbank, an Ontario Classic.
Team RACE had their full Elite team plus 3 M1 riders in the main event.
Attacks started right from the gun. Our plan was to have at least 2
riders in each move. The boys rode as planned and covered all the early
moves. After about 10 laps of 32 lap event, a serious break of 12
riders went up the road. We had 3 in break (Buck, Pozzy, and Thuss) so
we were very happy to let the break go. The remaining riders patrol of
the front of the group to discourage any attempts to bring the break
back. The break work really well together and openned up of gap of
almost 2 minutes. Pozzy and Thuss took care of Buck in the last laps
and Buck delivered the win. Buck set a record with this win, 3 years in
a row! The entire team rode very well and they all deserve a piece of
the credit.
Earlier in the day, Team RACE entered 7 riders in the M1 race. The race
had a quick pace, but no one was able to establish a serious break. The
race came to down to a field sprint with Tim and Dan Lefebvre making
the presence felt at the front with the help of Mike Moore. Tim took a
close finish with Dan right behind in 3rd. A few laps earlier James Layfield
of Team RACE snagged the prime.
All in all, a great day for Team RACE.
