A NOTE FROM KEVIN ON DAY 6
Friends
My amazing team has been reading me all of the incredible postings you have been making to the teamrace.com website.
I must say I am both humbled and appreciative of each of your comments. They mean so much to me providing much needed energy to myself and my team.
For me RAAM is actually a different experience and one that has humbled me and is teaching me many new things. The adversity from the winds, the distance, and the heat have all served to reinforce not my strengths but my weaknesses. I have had unbelievable highs through this ride as I think about our collective purpose, and unbelievable lows as I succumb to the realities of this race.
And I will tell you from the bottom of my heart that I simply could not get through this experience without the strength and energy of my family, my team and all of you as the extended community through which we are creating this shared experience.
Although the challenges and adversity I am experiencing everyday are incredibly hard they are the means upon which I am discovering new strenghts that I know are within ALL of us, and the means through which ALL of us can overcome the greatest of challenges including cancer.
As I close and get back on the bike I have one request of everyone. I ask that all of us remember this ride is not about what Kevin Wallace is doing but what all of us are doing to create a community against cancer by building the Betty Wallace Center. The real heroes are the women everywhere who have fought this disease. Read some of their stories on the teamrace.com website.
This ride is all about ensure the women we love everywhere receive the best possible cancer care.
Thanks for all your positive energy. I can't tell you how important it has been.
