Break the Mens Transcontinental RAAM Solo Record
Team Race makes it official. Our intent is to break the Mens SOLO RAAM record.
Though breaking the mens solo record has been stated in media releases and team communications since Kevins initial registration, there has been ongoing discussion regarding where the RAAM SOLO Record fit into our overall definition of success. It required some deeper soul searching,. The spirit of this effort has been driven by Kevin, reports Team Coach and spokesman Bob Langley. We had a heart to heart and in the end we knew that it was important to approach the race with the loftiest of goals. Team race represents inspiring people and giving hope to those struggling to overcome the greatest of challenges in cancer. If nothing else our declaration to race against what many have stated is the impossible represents the pursuit of miracles. There is no benefit to our playing small. We’re trying to achieve something special.
Of course we recognize that simply finishing RAAm solo is an unbelievable accomplishment and that winning RAAM in any given year is to be extraordinary amongst the extraordinary. However where others may be hoping we are believing. Kevin has displayed extraordinary discipline and effort in his training. Dr. Pat Hewitt knows the numbers and the science and is extremely confident in Kevins abilities. We have assembled an incredible team of talented people and we have a cause that gives us a purpose and a passion. Our strategy is sound and we also have a whole community pulling for us and believing in us. There is no arrogance in our intent, On the contrary we are completely humbled by the challenge ahead of us.
